mel meale becomes a biid registered interior designer®

The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is the only professional institute for interior designers in the UK. BIID growing membership represents both the commercial and residential sectors, from heritage to cutting edge. In addition to rigorous entry requirements which assess training, experience and professionalism, it is required of members to continue professional development throughout their career to ensure their continued expertise in design process, practice and regulatory matters. The BIID is committed to advancing professionalism, integrity and excellence in interior design. For Mel, becoming a member of BIID felt important to be part of a community of professional Interior Designers, to have a body that could advise, educate and support.

Steer design signs up to UK Interior Design Declares Climate & Biodiversity Emergency

As part of our commitment to sustainability, Steer Design have joined the industry in Design Declares. For everyone working in the design and construction industry, meeting the needs of our society without breaching the earth’s ecological boundaries will demand a paradigm shift in our behaviour. Together with our clients, we will need to commission and design spaces within buildings as indivisible components of a larger, constantly regenerating and self-sustaining system. Alongside all other signatories we will seek to work to the 12 objectives in order to design spaces with a more positive impact on the world around us.

RIBA Award win for Places Leisure Eastleigh

A great win for Places Leisure Eastleigh which went up against tough competition. The design of the new sustainable leisure centre replcaes Eastleigh Borough Council’s previous Fleming Park.

The award being presented to a council led project (in partnership with Places for People Leisure) is a fantastic achievement and illustrates the careful design to ensure a high quality result with a smaller footprint than its predecessor.
